Corbin Carroll, the Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder, is showing encouraging signs as he recovers from a broken hamate bone in his right hand, sustained just before spring training began. Despite the injury, Carroll has actively participated in batting practice ahead of the 2026 MLB season, signaling progress in his rehabilitation.
Details on Carroll’s Rehabilitation and Current Condition
The 25-year-old star has not provided an exact date for his return but confirmed that his hand is healing well, according to Cameron Cox of 12 News Arizona. Carroll emphasized maintaining his overall fitness while avoiding high-intensity activities that could hinder recovery. He described focusing on “low-intent” exercises to keep moving without overexerting his injured hand.
Carroll stated,
“It’s in good shape. I get stitches out pretty soon and roll from there… There’s a lot of higher-intent things I can’t do right now, and so I’m trying to do as many low-intent things, and just make sure I’m checking those boxes off right now.”
He added,
“
So, that when I am able to go, that I’m not shocking my body and asking it to do something pretty aggressive. So, yeah, with the one-handed swings, throwing, lifting, some running, some agility, just trying to make sure I still have some what of a spring training… [My hand] is in good shape.

Expectations for Carroll’s Return to Play This Season
Carroll’s rehabilitation includes performing one-handed swings in the batting cages, a positive indicator highlighted by reporter Cameron Cox on social media. The Diamondbacks’ hope is that Carroll will recover in time to rejoin the team around Opening Day after missing the entire spring training and the World Baseball Classic, which he is also expected to sit out.
