Giants’ Rafael Devers, Bryce Eldridge Set to Power Lineup

The San Francisco Giants are shaping up to feature one of Major League Baseball’s most formidable power-hitting combinations, centered around slugger Rafael Devers and promising prospect Bryce Eldridge. As the 2026 MLB season approaches, fans eagerly anticipate seeing what this powerful duo can accomplish together in the heart of the Giants’ lineup.

Devers, acquired in a major trade with the Boston Red Sox last season, and Eldridge, who debuted late in the previous year, have the potential to collectively hit over 60 home runs. This pairing could anchor the Giants’ offense for years, energizing the team’s middle order with significant home run power.

The Emerging Connection Between Devers and Eldridge

In a recent conversation on the Giants Talk podcast hosted by NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic, Eldridge shared his excitement about hitting alongside Devers. Eldridge described their left-handed power presence as a “dangerous” combination capable of producing serious offensive damage for San Francisco.

It’s dangerous. It’s dangerous. I just think it’s really cool to have two big lefty bats, first baseman/DH, in the middle of a lineup,

Eldridge said.

It’s cool, he’s such an amazing guy and he’s really been great to me, which I really appreciate. Our relationship is just getting started, but he’s been great to me at first base, cracking jokes, making it fun out there when it sometimes gets difficult, and he’s picking me up if I have a bad day on defense or in the cage or whatever. So I’m excited to keep getting to know him and to keep playing with him and do some damage in the order, maybe park some balls in the bay.

Last season, Devers played 90 games with the Giants, hitting 20 home runs as he adapted to a new role at first base. Eldridge’s major league debut came on September 15, and though he did not homer in his initial 10 games, his raw power potential remains highly promising to those watching closely.

Position Flexibility and Team Dynamics

With Devers’ transition from third base to first base last year, Eldridge’s path to becoming the Giants’ regular first baseman has become less clear. Instead, both players are expected to rotate between first base and the designated hitter slot this season, and Eldridge will also gain experience in the outfield during spring training.

The young prospect has appreciated Devers’ mentorship and welcoming attitude as they integrate on the field together. Eldridge noted that Devers’ support and team-oriented approach have made adapting easier.

I wouldn’t say it surprises me, but obviously, you hear stories about guys who have been around for a long time, they kind of stick to themselves and do their own thing,

Eldridge remarked.

But I haven’t seen that with anyone here. Everyone here, from top to bottom, we’ve got a fantastic group of people. I think that’s what starts a great team, the people on the team, not the players. We’re going to keep rooting for each other, supporting each other, helping each other out on the defensive side and the hitting side.

Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season and Beyond

It remains uncertain whether Eldridge will begin the 2026 season on the Giants’ major league roster or start in Triple-A, but his offensive upside combined with Devers’ established power presence paints a promising picture for San Francisco’s lineup. Their complementary skills could lead to a sustained and intimidating core for the Giants’ offense in the coming years.

As the team prepares for the upcoming season, the Devers-Eldridge tandem offers hope and an exciting prospect for Giants fans who are eager to see the full impact of these two powerful hitters.
