Andrew Benintendi Injury Update: Return Expected After Break

The Chicago White Sox have actively strengthened their roster this offseason, maintaining Andrew Benintendi as their main option in left field when healthy. Benintendi missed Friday’s spring training game due to soreness on his right side, though reports indicate the injury is not serious. He expressed confidence that he would be playing if the regular season had already started, and his return to spring training is anticipated soon, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.

Recent Activity and Team Approach to Benintendi’s Recovery

Benintendi resumed taking batting practice recently, with plans to continue, Merkin noted.

“Andrew Benintendi took swings yesterday and plans to do so again today,”

Merkin reported.

“Said he would be playing if it was regular season, but no reason to rush things on March 2. He should be back after Wednesday’s off-day.”

The White Sox are monitoring Benintendi’s condition closely but are cautious with their veteran outfielder during spring training. His absence on Friday appears to have been a precaution rather than a sign of a more significant issue, and the rest seems to be addressing the problem.

Benintendi’s Role and Expectations for the Upcoming Season

Chicago depends on Benintendi to continue his production streak, as he has hit 20 home runs in each of the last two seasons, totaling 40 homers and 127 RBIs over that span. While consistency at the plate remains a challenge, the team values his contribution to the middle of their batting order. Alongside emerging talents such as Kyle Teel, Chase Meidroth, and Colson Montgomery, the White Sox are blending youth with experience to strengthen their lineup. The addition of free agent Munetaka Murakami is also expected to add power to the offense.

Ensuring Benintendi’s full recovery is a priority for Chicago. Once healthy, the team will look for him to provide leadership and stability as part of their evolving roster.
