The NASCAR Cup Series finally kicked off its preseason with the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, after being postponed from Sunday due to a heavy snowstorm in North Carolina over the weekend. Once held at Daytona International Speedway, the Clash race has shifted locations several times in recent years, moving in 2021 to the road course at Daytona and then relocating to a specially constructed track inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 2022. The return to Bowman Gray in 2025 symbolized a meaningful comeback to NASCAR’s origins, as the series held annual races on the quarter-mile track there from 1958 through 1971.

The snowstorm left a significant accumulation of snow in the grandstands and on the racetrack, which was cleared and piled just outside the track walls. As the snow melted, water seeped onto the racing surface, triggering the first caution of the event. Once the race restarted, the wet conditions caused several caution periods, extending the 200-lap race far beyond the originally planned timeframe. Due to the prolonged race delays, FOX was forced to shift the final portion of the Clash from their main broadcast channel to their cable network, FS2, starting at 9:00 PM.
