Spire Motorsports announced on Thursday a long-term contract extension with Carson Hocevar that ensures the 23-year-old driver will remain in the No. 77 Chevrolet through at least the next four NASCAR Cup Series seasons. This extension solidifies Hocevarās future with the team well into the upcoming decade, reflecting his rising status within the sport and the organization.
Though specific financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed, this extension underlines the teamās confidence in Hocevar following his 2024 NASCAR Cup Series rookie of the year campaign.
Hocevarās Progress and Performance Highlights
A native of Michigan, Hocevar first claimed a Cup Series pole position last year and finished the season with nine top-10 finishes, including two runner-up results. Despite concluding 23rd in the overall standings, his performance often demonstrated more potential than his final ranking suggests.
Before joining the Cup Series, Hocevar competed full-time in the Truck Series with Niece Motorsports, where he amassed five wins and 34 top-10 finishes across 81 starts. His consistency earned him playoff appearances in each of his three full-time seasons, with a notable run to the championship round in 2023.
Team Ownership and Strategic Growth
Spire Motorsports is now majority owned by TWG Motorsports, an organization that also owns several other high-profile racing teams including Andretti Global in IndyCar, Wayne Taylor Racing in IMSA, and the Cadillac Formula 1 team debuting this season. TWGās parent company also holds ownership stakes in the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers, showing its expansive presence across major sports.

Leadership Perspective on Hocevarās Role
Jeff Dickerson, co-owner of Spire Motorsports, emphasized the significance of securing Hocevarās presence for multiple seasons.
āItās a pretty big moment for our company to announce an extension with Carson that takes us out for multiple years,ā
said Dickerson.
āItās not just about knowing heāll be here with us for the long-haul, but it gives our sponsors and competition group the foresight to make their own plans knowing heās in the seat of the No. 77 as far as we can see.ā
Dickerson also reflected on the personal and professional growth he has witnessed in Hocevar, acknowledging the challenges and rewards of developing the young driver.
āIt has been an absolutely rewarding experience getting to know Carson and watching him grow up, and learn from the good and bad both at and away from the racetrack,ā
Dickerson added.
āI love him like a son and it means a great deal to me, personally, knowing heāll be here for several years.ā
With a touch of humor, Dickerson addressed the emotional impact of the announcement.
āI expect this announcement could test the effectiveness of my blood pressure medication, so Iāve alerted my physician he may have to adjust the dosage appropriately but, itāll be worth it.ā
Teammates and Team Environment
This season, Hocevar will continue alongside Michael McDowell, now entering his second year with Spire Motorsports, and Daniel Suarez, a new addition to the team. Remaining with Spire also provides Hocevar opportunities to compete in other series, including the teamās truck series entry and dirt late model racing.
Hocevar commented on the strong camaraderie within the team and his excitement about the future.
āThis shows weāre all committed and eager to race with each other for a long time,ā
said Hocevar.
āEveryone in the building has really become a family to me. Spire is such a different team now compared to how it was my rookie season, and especially when I made my debut in 2023. Itās fun to know Iām going to be around the Cup garage for a long time, and really a dream come true.ā
Hocevarās Journey in Motorsport
Carson Hocevarās NASCAR Cup Series debut came in 2023 at World Wide Technology Raceway when he was just 20 years old. Prior to that, his impressive Truck Series career featured solid performances that made him one of the sportās promising young talents.
His continual development and perseverance have positioned him as an important figure for Spire Motorsports as the organization expands its competitiveness within NASCARās top tier.
Looking Ahead for Spire Motorsports and Hocevar
