Reflecting on the First Year of Collaboration and Impact on and off the Track
During their inaugural season together, Hamlin and Joe Gibbs Racing actively engaged in numerous Progressive campaigns, including the 13th annual Progressive Keys to Progress event, where Toyota keys were presented to two veterans. This partnership went beyond the racetrack, illustrating a commitment to both performance and social initiatives.
The Progressive relationship means a lot to our team,
said Hamlin.
They came on board at a point when we really needed help last year, and we were able to deliver great results on the track, and later in the year, we did more stuff with them away from the track. It’s a testament to what our sport can drive as far as value for our sponsors, and we’re excited to have them back on board to continue to build on what we started in 2025.

Challenges Facing Hamlin as He Pursues His First NASCAR Cup Series Championship
The 2026 season will be Hamlin’s 21st full-time campaign in the NASCAR Cup Series, during which he aims to capture his first championship. The previous year, he came tantalizingly close to clinching the title, maintaining control until a pivotal caution at Phoenix Raceway in the closing laps altered the outcome dramatically.

Off the track, Hamlin has experienced a difficult offseason marked by a legal dispute with NASCAR and the tragic loss of his father, Dennis, in a house fire. Adding to these challenges, Hamlin revealed that he is managing a torn right shoulder, an injury sustained while recovering belongings from the fire aftermath. This shoulder was previously repaired before the 2024 season.
Despite the pain, Hamlin plans to compete through the 2026 season and will undergo surgery on his shoulder after the season concludes.
