Kaulig Racing has announced Timothy “Mini” Tyrrell, 21, as its new driver for the upcoming 2026 Craftsman Truck Series season, marking the team’s debut in the NASCAR Truck Series. Tyrrell will pilot the No. 14 Ram 1500 and collaborate with seasoned crew chief and team owner Bruce Cook.
Racing Background and Achievements of Tyrrell
Tyrrell made history early, becoming the youngest Late Model Stock Car winner in the United States at just 10 years old. He continued to build his career by capturing the 2019 CARS Tour Rookie of the Year award, demonstrating a steady progression through grassroots racing before joining Kaulig Racing.
Race for the Seat: A Unique Path to Professional Racing
The selection of Tyrrell came through the reality competition show Race for the Seat, which challenged 15 drivers from diverse racing disciplines. Contestants competed in various vehicles, including Legends cars and Late Models, while also facing tasks beyond driving, such as fitness challenges aligned with Kaulig CEO Chris Rice’s values, commercial shoots, and media engagement.
Final Competition and Notable Runner-Up
The season concluded with Tyrrell and Carson Ferguson as the top contenders. Although Tyrrell won the overall competition, Ferguson earned $50,000 and a chance to race in the No. 25 Ram 1500 at Martinsville Speedway after winning the final event held at South Boston Speedway. Both drivers showcased impressive skill and determination throughout the contest.
Tyrrell’s Reaction to Winning the Opportunity
“I’m just overwhelmed. Winning ‘Race for the Seat’ is something I never in a million years figured would happen,”
Tyrrell said in a press release.
“I came into this hoping to learn a thing or two, grow a bit, and see if I could hang with a bunch of great drivers.
”
I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart for my family, for everybody who’s been in my corner, and for Ram and Kaulig Racing for this opportunity — taking a chance on a kid that comes from grassroots racing and elevating me to a professional level. I’m gonna work my tail off to make everybody proud.”
The Future Ahead for Tyrrell and Kaulig Racing
As Kaulig Racing expands into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Tyrrell’s appointment brings anticipation and hope to the team’s future performance. His ascent from grassroots ranks to a national series highlights Kaulig Racing’s commitment to nurturing young talent, while partnering with sponsors like Ram indicates strong support for this new chapter. With experienced figures like Bruce Cook onboard, both Tyrrell and the team aim for a promising debut season and long-term success.
