Kyle Larson has solidified his place with Hendrick Motorsports by signing a five-year contract extension after securing his second NASCAR Cup Series championship in 2025. Since joining Hendrick Motorsports in 2021, Larson has displayed dominant performances that earned him this long-term deal. Emphasizing his desire for career stability, Larson even joked about the possibility of a lifetime contract with the team, affirming his intention to remain with Hendrick Motorsports indefinitely.
For me, I don’t need the contract to know that I will hopefully be there for the rest of my life. I don’t ever foresee a reason for me to want to entertain being a part of another group. I know what I have at Hendrick Motorsports… So, maybe a lifetime contract will be the next one. But I am not too worried about it. I am pretty confident in where I am at and don’t have any plans to think about going anywhere else.

Hendrick Motorsports Values Larson as a Legacy Builder
Team owner Rick Hendrick is quick to invest in drivers capable of leading the organization to sustained success, as seen with Larson’s contract extension. The last lifetime contract Hendrick Motorsports awarded was to Jeff Gordon, a four-time Cup Series champion who now serves as vice chairman of the team. Larson is viewed as a driver with the potential to match the achievements of Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, making a long-term commitment invaluable for maintaining Hendrick’s winning tradition.
Well, it was expensive. But no, I wanted these guys in place and I didn’t want to race against them, and they are part of the family and the fabric of Hendrick Automotive and Hendrick Motorsports. And when you are that involved, and I look at Jeff Gordon standing over here, or Jimmie Johnson…So, for the next five or six years, we could put that in a drawer. We are going to race to win championships and win races.

Larson Focused on Performance Over Contract Length
Kyle Larson stressed that the contract length is secondary to his main objective—winning more races and championships with Hendrick Motorsports. While he appreciates the security the multi-year agreement provides, Larson remains focused on delivering results on the track rather than dwelling on the deal’s duration.

I don’t get too wrapped up in the duration or all of that, I really just…it’s nice to know that I will be here for at least five years and hopefully more. And that is kind of it. I just get to work on trying to win more races and win more championships in the time that I am there.

Unlike many of his peers who face short-term contracts with uncertainty, Larson enjoys the rare advantage of stability. He anticipates racing with Hendrick Motorsports well into his late 30s or early 40s.
So, yeah, grateful and I feel like it’s a very long-term contract compared to what you see these days. So, I am very happy with all of that and yeah, I think that gets me close to 40 and then we will see after that.

Team Consensus Highlights Strategic Stability for Success
The mutual confidence between Larson and Hendrick Motorsports underscores the strong foundation the team continues to build. With Larson’s commitment and Hendrick’s willingness to invest, the team is positioned to challenge for major titles in upcoming seasons. Maintaining top drivers like Larson supports HMS’s aim to extend their record as NASCAR’s most successful organization, fostering legacy continuity alongside legends Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
By prioritizing long-term stability and driver loyalty, Hendrick Motorsports distinguishes itself in an era when short contracts have become the norm. Larson’s dedication to the team signifies his belief that no other organization provides a better platform to cement his place in NASCAR history.
