Kaulig Racing’s new Ram 1500 fleet made a significant stride during Saturday’s FR8 208 at EchoPark Speedway near Atlanta, successfully completing the race with all five trucks while achieving their second top-10 finish of the 2026 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series season. Although the trucks didn’t showcase headline-grabbing speed, the team collected valuable, clean laps to build essential data for this early stage of their program development.
The race began after an hour-long rain delay on the 1.5-mile high-speed oval and quickly settled into the draft-heavy style Atlanta is known for. NASCAR reduced the event length by ten laps to accommodate the following O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race, and with caution-free action in the first two stages, there were limited restarts and fewer chances to capitalize on strategic track position changes.
Justin Haley Drives Ram’s Best Result with Top-10 Performance
Justin Haley led the Ram contingent by finishing 10th in the No. 16 Ram 1500, a notable accomplishment given the team’s qualifying times placed them outside the top-25. Achieving a top-10 finish on a momentum-driven track like Atlanta is a vital benchmark for Kaulig Racing‘s emerging program. Haley demonstrated steady progress throughout the race, moving from 16th in Stage 1 to 14th in Stage 2 before securing a solid position in the final stage.

Haley reflected on the day, stating:
It was good to get a top 10 on the first 1.5-mile track for Ram. As we expected, we have a lot of things to work on. We were pretty decent for our first try, and I think we learned a lot of things across all of our teams. We will keep working on it and try to be better in St. Petersburg and Darlington.

This attitude exemplifies the team’s current focus on learning and incremental improvement rather than chasing immediate dominance in the series.
Ty Dillon Faces Challenges but Finishes Strong for Ram
Ty Dillon, Kaulig’s second Free Agent driver of the year, navigated a turbulent day to finish 11th in the No. 25 Ram 1500. After multiple setbacks that forced him to restart from the back twice, Dillon made a commendable push in the later stages of the race. Despite issues such as a pit miscue and a detached spoiler brace that caused additional track position losses, Dillon persevered.
Regarding the struggles, Dillon noted:
It was just an up and down day and a little bit of learning about what these trucks need. I felt like our truck wasn’t bad, from the start, we were pretty balanced. We were just kind of fighting against getting back up into the clean air. I made a mistake getting a little short in our box and put it to the back and we had a fender brace or a spoiler brace pop off and had to fix that too, so it kept putting us to the back. With the race shortened, it just didn’t give us any time to go and really get to where we needed to be. But we finished on a strong note and really proud of the effort. Grateful for the opportunity and had a lot of fun out there today.
?Ty Dillon, Driver
For a single-event Free Agent role, Dillon’s final result met expectations by providing useful feedback and a respectable finish amid challenges.
Daniel Dye’s Progress Shows Potential for Ram Trucks
Daniel Dye crossed the finish line 13th in the No. 10 MOPAR Ram 1500, though his race day involved wrestling with a loose-handling truck at the outset. As the race progressed, Dye found improved balance, moving into the top-10 with 35 laps remaining, the first Ram driver to do so. This indicated the truck’s capabilities when dialed in properly.
Reflecting on the outing, Dye said:
It was nice to run in the top 10 for a minute today. Our No. 10 MOPAR Ram was much better on the bottom of the track. We definitely have some work to do once we get back to the shop and obviously, we will get better once we spend some time on the simulator. But generally we are OK with how our day went.
?Daniel Dye, Driver
Dye’s remarks highlight the ongoing development process and the anticipation of improvements through both practical track experience and simulator work.
Brenden Queen and Mini Tyrrell Gain Experience Despite Obstacles
Brenden “Butterbean” Queen ended the race in 16th place while spending most of the early stages amidst mid-pack traffic. His team focused on refining truck setup throughout the race, and a timely pit stop allowed him to restart the final segment in 13th. However, the shortened distance limited his ability to mount a significant late-race charge.
Meanwhile, Free Agent Mini Tyrrell experienced a challenging day in just his second attempt at the demanding Atlanta-style circuit. Troubles with handling caused him to lose a lap early on, and with minimal cautions and a truncated event, he was unable to recover, finishing 19th.
Points Standings Reflect Kaulig Racing’s Early Progress
The current points standings underscore the importance of consistent, clean finishes as Kaulig Racing continues to build its presence. Brenden Queen resides in 6th place with 53 points, providing Ram a solid foothold near the top of the leaderboard. Daniel Dye is positioned 12th with 44 points, Justin Haley follows closely at 13th with 42 points, and Mini Tyrrell holds 15th with 36 points. The series leader, Chandler Smith, sits at 103 points, establishing an early benchmark for the field.
Upcoming Challenges: St. Petersburg Street Race and New Driver Entry
The NASCAR Truck Series next takes to St. Petersburg, Florida, for its inaugural street race, a venue emphasizing braking control, precision driving, and navigating tight concrete walls. Kaulig Racing has announced that Colin Braun will step in as the No. 25 driver, becoming the team’s third Free Agent driver for the season. This change brings fresh opportunity as the team adapts to the vastly different track environment.
The Atlanta event was never about dominating outright speed but focused on establishing a solid baseline, collecting valuable data, and securing respectable finishes. This steady foundation is crucial for Kaulig Racing and Ram as they progress from newcomers to legitimate contenders in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, building success one race at a time.
