Guerschon Yabusele, forward for the New York Knicks, faces an uncertain future as the NBA trade deadline approaches. With speculation mounting around his status, the French player is evaluating options that may include a return to the EuroLeague.
Interest from European Clubs Surfaces Amid Trade Speculation
Despite numerous trade rumors linking Yabusele to other NBA teams, fresh reports from Europe indicate several clubs are interested in signing him. Yabusele himself acknowledged interest from Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv while remaining noncommittal about his next move.
I ain’t closing no door on nothing,
Yabusele told Stefan Bondy.
I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know what tomorrow’s going to be. So right now I can tell you nothing has been discussed or signed or anything like that.
I’m a Knicks player at the end of the day. There’s nothing with that. But there’s been teams calling, so yeah, I feel like the report was just them saying they want me, and then everybody thought that I signed something already. No, nothing like that. But there’s some teams out there that we heard are getting ready to sign me if I go back that way. We’ll see what happens,
he added.

Negotiations Advance with Multiple European Teams Including Panathinaikos
Reports from sports journalists Noa Poplinger and Sotiris Vetakis underscore ongoing discussions, with Hapoel Tel Aviv actively negotiating with Yabusele’s representatives. Additionally, Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens is reportedly in advanced talks to secure his services.
Yabusele has also identified Real Madrid as a potential destination, emphasizing his personal connection to the Spanish club and city.
Madrid is going to be, to be honest, I’m going to tell you, one of the first teams that we’re going to have the conversation first to try to see how it’s going to be,
Yabusele revealed.
I’m not closing my door on anything else, but you know, my house is in Madrid.
I consider myself like somebody who lives there all the time and goes back in the summer. That would be special to be back there,
the Knicks forward added.
Current Performance and Contract Details Highlight Season Standing
This season, Yabusele has appeared in 41 games with the Knicks, averaging just under 9 minutes per outing, 2.7 points, and 2.1 rebounds. Earlier this year, he signed a two-year contract worth $11.3 million, including a player option for the 2026-27 season valued at $5.8 million.
Potential Transition Could Affect Both NBA and European Teams
As the trade deadline nears, the possibility of Yabusele returning to Europe introduces tension and uncertainty surrounding the Knicks roster dynamics. His openness to multiple offers may impact contract discussions and team strategies on both continents. Observers will be watching closely to see how negotiations unfold and what this means for Yabusele’s career trajectory.
