Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Nears Historic Scoring Streak Record

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 20 points, along with five rebounds, nine assists, and two steals in 28 minutes during Tuesday’s 128-92 victory over the Orlando Magic. Shooting 8-for-22 from the field, including a made pair of free throws near the end of the third quarter, he exited the game after securing his 121st consecutive game with at least 20 points.

Approaching Wilt Chamberlain’s Long-Standing NBA Record

Currently, Gilgeous-Alexander is just five games shy of matching Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time NBA record of 126 consecutive games scoring 20 points or more. Chamberlain set this mark between 1961 and 1963. The milestone could be reached in an upcoming home game against the Milwaukee Bucks on February 12, which is the final matchup before the NBA All-Star break.

Strong Performance Trend Since January

Despite a few close calls in recent weeks, Gilgeous-Alexander has maintained an outstanding level of play since early January. Over the past sixteen games, he has averaged 31.1 points, 6.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.2 three-pointers, and 1.7 combined steals and blocks per contest, showcasing his all-around contribution to the team’s success.
