Donovan Mitchell Aims to Win 2026 NBA 3-Point Contest

LOS ANGELES — After earning his seventh selection to the NBA All-Star Game, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell will seek to add a 3-Point Contest title to his accolades at the 2026 All-Star Weekend. The highly anticipated event will take place on Saturday, February 14 at 5 p.m., featuring Mitchell among eight sharpshooters vying for the crown.

Field of Competitors and Contest Format Explained

Alongside Mitchell, other notable participants include Devin Booker of the Suns, Hornets’ Kon Knueppel, Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard, 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey, NuggetsJamal Murray, BucksBobby Portis Jr., and Heat’s Norman Powell. Competitors will shoot from multiple 3-point spots within 70 seconds during two rounds of intense scoring.

The course includes racks of four standard balls worth one point each and a special multi-colored money ball valued at two points apiece. Players can choose a “money ball” rack entirely composed of these higher-value shots. Additionally, two “From the Logo” pedestals feature blue money balls that carry three points per basket. After the first round, the top three scorers advance to the championship round, where the highest scorer claims the trophy.

Mitchell’s Previous Contests and Motivation to Win

Donovan Mitchell previously competed in the 3-Point Contest in both 2021 and 2024 but has yet to secure a victory. With a strong lineup of competitors and a strategic course layout, Mitchell enters this year’s contest determined to capture his first title in this event and add to his growing reputation.
