Brandon Ingram Replaces Stephen Curry in 2026 All-Star Game

Toronto Raptors’ Brandon Ingram has been chosen to fill the spot of Stephen Curry in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, scheduled for Sunday at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome. The NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made this decision following Curry’s withdrawal due to an injury, marking Ingram’s second career All-Star selection.

Stephen Curry was voted as a starter by fans for the USA Stripes team but will not participate because of a runner’s knee, as confirmed by Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr. Ingram was selected based on his impressive performance this season and strong fan and player voting results from the Eastern Conference.

Brandon Ingram’s Journey and 2026 Season Performance

Ingram first appeared in the NBA All-Star Game in 2020 while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans, a season in which he also earned the Most Improved Player award. This year, he ranked tenth in fan voting and eighth in player voting within the Eastern Conference. Among the players with more fan votes who are not participating are Michael Porter Jr., sidelined with a knee injury, and James Harden, recently traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers from the Clippers, the host team of this year’s All-Star event.

As the highest scorer on the Raptors, Ingram averages 22 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists. He has also reached or exceeded 20 points in 33 games this season, showcasing his consistency and impact on the team’s offense.

New Format for the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend

The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will introduce a fresh format with three teams competing in a round-robin tournament. There will be two teams representing the USA—the USA Stripes and USA Stars—and one World Team. Each team will play at least two 12-minute games, leading to a final championship match between the top two teams based on their round-robin results and point differentials if a tie occurs.

The All-Star Weekend is coinciding with the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, and the game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock, marking the NBA’s return to NBC. This new format emphasizes the international dimension by featuring a USA versus World competition, providing fans and players a highly anticipated competitive setting.
