Christian Braun Regains Bounce After Tough Ankle Recovery

Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun has played in four games since returning from a left ankle sprain that kept him out for nearly two months. His initial attempt to come back last month was cut short after only three appearances due to ongoing issues with the ankle.

Challenges in Recovery and Lessons Learned

Reflecting on his earlier comeback, Braun acknowledged that he rushed his return before fully healing.

“I think the biggest (factor) was, ‘Can I jump in the air?’”

Braun told Bennett Durando of The Denver Post.

He further explained,

“Obviously, they do all their tests (on an injury) and they do a really good job, but truthfully, I couldn’t jump. And if everybody has seen me play, I jump off my left leg a ton. So I’m just navigating, like, ‘Before I come back this next time, I need to make sure I can jump. I can run full speed and I can jump.’ It sounds really elementary and really basic, but that’s the truth. The explosion just wasn’t there.”

Braun’s Career and Current Status

Christian Braun has completed four seasons with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds over 255 regular-season contests. He was also part of an NBA championship-winning team during his time with Denver.

Outlook and Impact of Braun’s Recovery

Christian Braun’s gradual progress in his ankle recovery is crucial for the Nuggets as they navigate the remainder of the season. Regaining his full athletic ability, especially jumping and explosiveness off his left leg, will determine his effectiveness moving forward. His experience this season underscores the importance of patience in injury rehabilitation, which could influence his playing time and impact for upcoming games.
