“I was in San Antonio with the Thunder. Then, got traded to the Hornets. So, I stayed like four hours in my room. Then, the Chicago trade happened. So, I flew to Chicago. Did my physical in the night and in the morning. Then, I was supposed to play with Chicago in Toronto. So, I took a plane to Toronto. Then, as soon as the plane took off, I saw the trade to Milwaukee.”
So, I had to land in Toronto, go back to Chicago, and drive to Milwaukee. It was really crazy, but I’m excited to be here.
Covering more than 2,333 miles, Dieng’s long journey proved worthwhile. With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined by a right calf injury and the Bucks struggling with a 22-30 record during a critical stretch of the NBA season, Dieng’s 17 points—including five three-pointers—and three rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench contributed to Milwaukee’s 116-108 victory over the Orlando Magic.

And I told him I’d do anything to help the team win.

In a highly emotional return to the Paycom Center, Dieng delivered a career-best performance, scoring 19 points to help the Bucks secure a convincing 110-93 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement before the game, Dieng stayed focused as the crowd warmly recognized him during the starting lineup announcement.

I liked it. I played four years with those guys. So, it was really fun.
Dieng’s stat line for the night was impressive: 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, 11 rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and a steal. His dynamic showing underscored his growth and potential as he embraces a bigger role with the Bucks.

Before the game against the Thunder, Bucks assistant coach Darvin Ham—standing in for Doc Rivers—praised Dieng’s work ethic and basketball IQ. Ham described Dieng as a “really good kid” who absorbs coaching well and contributes positively to the team’s energy.

A great vibe to him, asks all the right questions, stood right next to him on his first day of practice. And just talking about the offense and different dynamics, the defense, you know? High IQ, soaking in everything, taking one step at a time, and loves to work. We’re excited about him.

Across his first two games with Milwaukee, Dieng accumulated 36 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field, including 8-of-14 from three-point range, along with 14 rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and one steal.
