Al Horford Reflects on Emotional Return Against Celtics

Al Horford experienced a mix of emotions during Thursday night’s game at Chase Center, where his Golden State Warriors lost 121–110 to the Boston Celtics, his former team. The encounter marked a significant moment as Horford adjusted to competing against players he once called teammates while striving to contribute for his current squad.

Veteran Player Shares Thoughts on Unusual Experience

In the post-game press conference, Horford described the game as “definitely a weird feeling.” He appreciated reconnecting with familiar faces among players, coaches, and staff but emphasized that once the match started, the competitive spirit took control.

“It was all business and trying to do our best there,”

Horford said.

He further noted the challenge of adapting to the different playing styles of those he previously played alongside, stating,

“It was a little different seeing guys I played with, but once we got on the court, it was competitive basketball.”

Impact of Stephen Curry’s Absence Felt by Warriors

The Warriors, now with a 29–27 record, are enduring a stretch of 6–11 without star player Stephen Curry, sidelined due to a knee injury. Horford highlighted the significant role Curry plays, remarking on how the team’s dynamics shift without him.

“It’s a big difference. We can’t lie to ourselves,”

Horford said.

“He just does so much… Whether it’s assists, whether it’s layups, a lot of things open up for the rest of us. It’s night and day completely how we are with and without him.”

Looking Ahead for Golden State Warriors

The loss against the Celtics at Chase Center underscores the challenges Golden State faces as it copes with missing key players and adapts to lineup changes. Horford’s return to face his former team brought a unique emotional layer to the contest, but the Warriors must focus on finding cohesion and pushing forward as the season progresses.
