Bulls’ Anfernee Simons Out Pending Wrist Injury Scan

Chicago Bulls guard Anfernee Simons will undergo additional imaging on his injured left wrist on Monday and will consult a hand specialist, head coach Billy Donovan confirmed before Sunday’s matchup against the New York Knicks. The injury occurred during Chicago’s 126-110 loss to Detroit on Saturday, and Simons was unable to play in the second half due to the discomfort.

Details Surrounding Simons’ Injury and Current Condition

The left wrist injury has been identified as a sprain, although the team is not yet certain about the precise diagnosis or how long Simons will remain sidelined. Donovan stated,

“They (the Bulls medical staff) certainly want to see a hand doctor and we’ll do some pictures tomorrow, so I’ll have a better idea.”

He added,

“He’s out right now. He’s still pretty sore from it, but the extent of it, I’m not sure yet.”

Simons’ Performance and Career Background

Since joining the Bulls in a recent trade that sent Nikola Vucevic to Boston, Simons has appeared in six games and started in five, averaging 15.2 points and 28.4 minutes per outing. Before the move, the 26-year-old averaged 14.2 points over 49 games with the Celtics this season, playing 24.5 minutes per contest. Originally selected by Portland in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft, Simons spent seven seasons with the Trail Blazers before being traded to Boston in July in exchange for Jrue Holiday.

Team Context and Current Challenges

The Bulls are entering Sunday’s game amid an eight-game losing streak, the longest stretch without a win for the team this season. The injury to Simons adds to the team’s difficulties as they try to reverse their fortunes in the NBA standings.
