Steve Kerr Names Moses Moody Warriors’ Most Consistent Star

Moses Moody has solidified himself as a dependable presence for the Golden State Warriors throughout 2026. The 23-year-old swingman has averaged 13.1 points per game since the beginning of the year, while also excelling on defense, establishing himself as one of the team’s top defenders.

Coach Steve Kerr acknowledged Moody’s strong performance following a standout effort in the Warriors’ 128-117 victory over the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center, where Moody led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists despite the squad’s limited roster.

Coach Kerr Highlights Moody’s Steady Growth and Defensive Impact

After the game, Kerr praised Moody’s consistency and growth this season.

“Moses has been brilliant for six weeks,”

Kerr told reporters.

“You know, he’s shooting the lights out … the confidence; he’s maybe been our most consistent performer. His on-ball defense; he’s top of the league against pick-and-roll. And he’s such a great teammate. He’s there for you every night, the way he works. He’s so poised.”

Kerr also reflected on Moody’s development since a slower month in December.

“It’s really fun to watch Moses blossom and have such a good season. And there was a stretch in there for a month or so, maybe in December, where he cooled off. But I think this is the guy he is.”

Moody averaged only 8.8 points across 13 games in December, but his form has rebounded impressively.

Moody’s Growing Role Intensifies After Key Injuries

Moody has become a reliable staple in Kerr’s rotation, especially after the team lost Jimmy Butler to a season-ending ACL injury. Kerr pointed to Moody’s increased quickness and strength contributing to his recent highlights.

“I think he’s quicker and stronger,”

Kerr said.

“You saw the baseline move where he dunked it, you know, ripped through. I think it’s a natural progression for a young guy after three, four years to grow into your body and get a little stronger, a little quicker. So I see him getting past people more now than in the past.”

During the game against Denver, Moody’s performance reflected Kerr’s observations as the forward made several standout plays that energized the team and the crowd.

Moses Moody on Simplifying His Game to Maximize Impact

The 6-foot-5 swingman attributes his recent success to focusing on what he does best and embracing his role within the team. “Simplifying the game,” Moody said following the win,

“I know what I’m good at … the player that I am next season might not be the player that I am right now. But I’ve said it before — being where your feet are, making the best out of your situation. I had a conversation with Coach yesterday, and I was asking, ‘With Steph [Curry] being gone, do you need me to do anything else? How does my role change at all?’ And he was saying, that’s one of the’s his favorite things about me, just the composure and being solid.”

Moody emphasized the importance of maintaining composure during intense moments, saying,

“I’ve been really solid for a long time … it’s cool to have somebody else say it, too, what’s been in your head. And there are times in the game where you get too hype and you want it, and you want to go take over, and you want to go do something, and you got to calm down and remember, like, play your role. And when a lot of guys do that … that’s how a team win happens.”

His maturity and willingness to adapt his game, shaped since his days in Arkansas, contribute to his steady rise.

Overcoming Odds: Warriors’ Fight Without Several Key Players

Despite losing several key players including Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Kristaps Porziņģis, and Jimmy Butler, the Warriors managed to secure a surprising victory against the Nikola Jokić-led Nuggets. The win highlighted Golden State’s resilience and ability to lean on emerging players like Moody.

Kerr summed up Moody’s value succinctly:

“He’s really a good shooter, good defender and somebody you can count on every night.”

Moody’s ongoing consistency is a vital component of the Warriors’ efforts to stay competitive through a challenging stretch.

The Significance of Moody’s Role Moving Forward

Moses Moody’s consistent contributions offer a beacon of hope for the Warriors as they navigate a demanding season filled with injuries to star players. His ability to score efficiently, defend aggressively, and maintain composure under pressure embodies the team’s determination to stay competitive. As Golden State continues to develop other talents alongside Moody, his role is likely to become even more pivotal in shaping the team’s success in the months ahead.
