Cam Thomas Blasts Brooklyn: “They Don’t Believe in Nobody”

After rejoining the Brooklyn Nets last summer, Cam Thomas entered with hopes of securing a major offensive role and increasing his trade value during the season. However, neither scenario unfolded as expected, culminating in Brooklyn waiving him following the trade deadline. Speaking recently while returning to New York as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, Thomas expressed frustration with his former team’s approach.

Thomas Candidly Criticizes Brooklyn’s Lack of Faith

In an interview with Stefan Bondy of The New York Post, Thomas offered a rare glimpse into his mindset about Brooklyn’s handling of his career. Although reluctant to dwell on his past with the Nets, he still conveyed disappointment in how the organization regarded him.

“I never asked. I don’t even care anymore. I’m on a different team. I don’t want to talk about them much. But that’s what it was. They didn’t believe. Always thought — I don’t know. They always thought something was better, I guess. I don’t know. Always chasing something.”

Thomas’s comments imply a pervasive skepticism within the Nets’ management and coaching staff toward his abilities and potential, which affected his role on the squad.

Brooklyn Nets’ Rebuilding Strategy Leaves Thomas Out

The Nets have been focused on a comprehensive rebuild, aiming to secure star talent and complementary role players to form a competitive roster. During Thomas’s tenure, the team underwent frequent roster changes, and ultimately, Thomas did not fit into the long-term vision. Their pursuit of established stars left less room for developing players like Thomas.

New Challenges and Prospects with Milwaukee

Since signing with the Milwaukee Bucks, Thomas has averaged 14 points per game but has struggled with his three-point shooting, connecting at just 27.7%. Early highlights included a 34-point effort against Orlando and 27 points versus New Orleans shortly after joining Milwaukee. Despite flashes of strong performance, his minutes and scoring have decreased in recent contests, highlighting ongoing adjustments.

Thomas will enter unrestricted free agency this summer, making this season critical for determining his next career move and potential opportunities.
