Kevin Durant, Nike Launch New NIL Deal Supporting Texas Hoops

NBA star Kevin Durant has teamed up with Nike and the Texas Longhorns athletic program to introduce a new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) partnership designed to highlight a chosen group of Longhorn student-athletes and their basketball experiences. This collaboration aims to provide support to college athletes through innovative opportunities during their playing careers.

Collaborative Effort to Empower Student-Athletes Through Education and Business

In addition to the NIL program, Nike, the University of Texas, and Durant’s media company Boardroom will co-host an annual sports business summit for Texas student-athletes and sports business students. The event seeks to offer comprehensive educational programming that will strengthen participants’ knowledge of sports business.

“Creating impactful, interactive programming to foster their education in the business space.”

– Statement from partners coordinating the initiative

Durant emphasized his connection to the university, stating,

“My time at UT had a huge impact on not only my basketball career, but on me personally.”

He added,

“Supporting players during their college playing career was always a goal, and I’m thrilled to be able to expand our partnership with UT, bring Boardroom into the mix, and create programming that benefits all UT student-athletes.”

Inaugural Summit and Athlete Benefits Planned for Future

The first sports business summit is scheduled for late 2026 and will feature prominent guest speakers, sessions on content creation and storytelling strategies, financial literacy workshops, and additional resources supporting athlete development. Madison Booker, a leading player on the University of Texas women’s basketball team, will be the initial recipient of benefits from the partnership, including exclusive access to Durant’s signature basketball shoes and Nike apparel.

“It means a lot to be a Nike athlete,”

Booker shared.

“Honestly, it’s a blessing. I think that’s also part of why I came to UT – the opportunities here are amazing.”

Plans to extend athlete signings beyond basketball and to other Longhorn sports will be announced in the near future, signaling wide-ranging support for Texas student-athletes.

Broad Significance of the Partnership for Texas Student-Athletes

This Kevin Durant Nike NIL partnership represents a major step forward in providing Longhorn athletes with resources that extend beyond the court, combining athletic endorsement with education in sports business and financial literacy. By creating these opportunities, the university and its partners are empowering Texas student-athletes to build sustainable careers both during and after their time in college.
