Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has shown resilience by competing through an oblique injury during the team’s two playoff victories, and he expects to be fully ready for Sunday’s Super Bowl 60 game in San Jose, California. As the Seahawks prepare to face the New England Patriots, Darnold’s health remains a key factor in the high-stakes matchup.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s practice, Darnold expressed optimism about his condition, describing how he felt just as capable as he did before the Seahawks clinched the NFC championship by defeating the Los Angeles Rams 31-27.
Darnold’s Recovery and Playoff Performance
Definitely the time off has helped a little bit,
Darnold said.
I’m always just going to take it one step at a time, do my rehab and do everything I need to do to make sure it feels great going into practice and going into the game, obviously on Sunday. It feels great.
The quarterback has demonstrated strong performances throughout the 2025 season and continued to improve during the playoffs. In his two postseason appearances so far, Darnold has completed 37 of 53 passes, gaining 470 yards and throwing four touchdowns without a single interception.
Coaching Perspective on Darnold’s Progress
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald highlighted that Darnold’s practice workload has gradually increased after being limited early in the playoff run due to the injury. The quarterback’s routine included restricted throwing during practice sessions in Seattle last week before the team relocated to San Jose.
He’s in a great spot,
Macdonald stated.
I know he’s really confident. We’ll see how today plays out. I’m not entirely sure how many throws or what percentage of throws.
Looking Ahead to Super Bowl 60
Sam Darnold’s readiness will be crucial as the Seahawks aim to upset the New England Patriots in the championship game. His recovery from injury and strong performance trajectory provide hope for Seattle fans anticipating his lead under pressure. As preparations continue, the coaching staff’s careful management of his throwing workload will balance maintaining his health with ensuring peak game-day performance.
The outcome of this Super Bowl could hinge on Darnold’s ability to execute effectively against a formidable Patriots defense, making his condition and confidence key factors in the Seahawks’ title aspirations.
