Bo Nix, quarterback for the Denver Broncos, has quickly emerged as one of the most promising young talents in the NFL. By the end of his second season, Nix led the Broncos to 25 wins, including playoff victories, pushed the team to the top of the AFC West, and earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC, marking a dramatic turnaround for the franchise.
Hall of Famer Kurt Warner Commends Nix’s Progress While Pointing Out Growth Opportunities
Kurt Warner, a Hall of Fame quarterback and former Super Bowl MVP, shared his insights about Bo Nix during an interview with 9NEWS’ Mike Klis at Super Bowl Radio Row. Warner expressed admiration for Nix’s accomplishments so early in his career.
Overall, we’re talking about a second-year quarterback. I think he’s done some incredible things,
Warner said.
I’m just very impressed with how he’s carried himself,
he added.
Still, Warner highlighted an important aspect where Nix could develop further to elevate his game. He believes Nix should exhibit more poise and calmness when operating inside the pocket.
Just a little more poise and calm in the pocket,
Warner suggested, noting there were
some opportunities out there if he just settles in a little bit more.
Balanced Playstyle Could Elevate Nix’s Quarterback Performance
Warner acknowledged Nix’s dynamic playing style, pointing out his comfort in moving off his initial spot, which often benefits his athleticism and throwing ability on the run. However, this mobility can sometimes lead to missed chances when he could benefit from remaining steady.

He loves to be on the move. He loves his feet moving, which I understand because he’s a great thrower on the run. But sometimes, there’s some opportunities out there in the pocket,
Warner explained.
For young quarterbacks with exceptional athleticism like Nix, finding the right balance between improvisation and trusting the designed offense is critical. Warner praised Nix’s leadership and overall growth throughout a high-pressure second season.
To have his team as the No. 1 seed in his second year, all the comeback wins, I’m just very impressed with how he’s carried himself,
Warner noted.
Upcoming Focus for Nix and the Broncos Under Coach Sean Payton
As Bo Nix enters his third season working with head coach Sean Payton, Warner believes that refining his pocket presence will unlock new levels of success for the Broncos’ offense. Relying less on improvisation and allowing plays to develop as designed could simplify decision-making on the field and promote longevity.
We see it a lot in the league with these athletic quarterbacks,
Warner said.
They’re very comfortable trying to create. It’s just finding that balance where sometimes you let the offense work for you.
Warner also emphasized how remarkable it is that Nix guided Denver to the AFC Championship Game so early in his career but cautioned that returning to that stage is a challenge.
He’s very young, and you’d like to think he’ll be back there numerous times,
Warner said.
But it’s not easy to get there.
With much of the team’s core players staying put, attention now turns to whether Nix can build on his strengths and embrace this next phase of quarterback development. Achieving greater composure in the pocket could be the catalyst for the Broncos to sustain their recent success and aim for deep playoff runs in the coming seasons.
