Stefon Diggs Faces New Lawsuit Ahead of Super Bowl 2026

Just before Super Bowl 2026, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs is confronting a new legal challenge. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Miami-Dade County, Florida, involves accusations connected to the theft of Diggs’ Ferrari two years ago and alleges various offenses including defamation and assault-related claims.

The complaint targets Diggs along with his brothers, Packers cornerback Trevon Diggs and former college defensive back Darez Marsean Diggs, holding them accountable for multiple allegations tied to the fallout from the stolen vehicle incident.

Details Surrounding the Ferrari Theft and Subsequent Disputes

The plaintiff, who claims past employment with Diggs, says that in July 2024, Diggs requested assistance to relocate his Ferrari from Miami to New York and then onward to Houston. However, the vehicle was reportedly stolen after arriving in Houston, a loss law enforcement attributed to a third party. Despite this, the suit contends Diggs spread accusations that the plaintiff was responsible for the vehicle’s disappearance.

According to the lawsuit, tensions escalated over the following months, leading to several confrontations involving individuals close to the Patriots wideout. The ongoing dispute reportedly intensified the conflict between Diggs and the complainant.

In a notable exchange in January 2025, Diggs sent a message stating he was

“responsible and accountable for all actions of those around me.”

Alleged Harassment and Physical Altercation

The plaintiff also alleges that members of Diggs’ entourage confronted him at various locations, including restaurants in Houston and Miami, and even visited his home to demand the return of gifts received from Stefon Diggs. These encounters culminated in a violent clash in December at a Miami club, where two individuals connected to Diggs allegedly assaulted the man, with Trevon Diggs purportedly witnessing the incident.

According to court documentation, the plaintiff

sustained serious and permanent physical injuries,

including a torn ACL, a partially torn MCL, and facial damage.

Legal Claims and Responses

The lawsuit accuses Stefon Diggs of defamation, civil conspiracy, vicarious liability, ratification, and aiding and abetting assault and battery. The plaintiff is seeking to have the case treated as a libel and slander lawsuit and estimates damages exceeding $100,000.

Representatives for Stefon and Trevon Diggs, as well as a former attorney for Stefon Diggs, have not responded to requests for comment. Attempts to reach Darez Marsean Diggs were also unsuccessful.

Context of Prior Allegations and Their Impact

This legal action follows another serious accusation against Stefon Diggs from December, when he was charged with strangulation or suffocation in an alleged attack on a personal chef at his Massachusetts residence. The chef reported being slapped and choked until she began to black out, claims that Diggs denies.

The accumulation of these legal issues adds considerable tension ahead of the Super Bowl, placing Diggs under intense scrutiny both on and off the field. These developments could affect public perception and potentially his professional career depending on the outcomes of the lawsuits.
