Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett announced he plans to travel to Italy this February to support his girlfriend, snowboarder Chloe Kim, at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Garrett shared the news during Super Bowl LX Media Row while discussing his busy schedule and excitement for cheering Kim on at the games.
Elite Athletes United by Mutual Support
Both Garrett and Kim hold distinguished athletic careers. Kim is a dominant force in snowboarding, having secured gold medals in the halfpipe at the last two Olympic Games and a three-time halfpipe World Championship winner in 2019, 2021, and 2025. She also boasts 10 medals in Winter X-Games superpipe competitions, including eight golds.
“I finish up here Sunday, get back for about 12 hours, and then I hit the road and go to see her,”
Garrett explained to Janine Rubenstein of People Magazine.
“We’re both just so supportive of one another,”
he continued.
“She’s always texting, she’s always calling to see how I’m doing during the year and I’m doing the same right now, checking on her, seeing how she’s feeling, emotionally and physically.”
Kim’s Quest for Historic Olympic Triumph
Kim is aiming to achieve a remarkable three-peat by winning gold again in the halfpipe this year. Despite a shoulder injury during January training, she has confirmed she is prepared and healthy for the competition. Garrett, meanwhile, has also accomplished an outstanding season, setting the NFL single-season sack record with 23 sacks for 2025, earning his second Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year award, and making the All-Pro First Team for the fifth time.
Significance of Their Athletic Pursuits and Mutual Encouragement
The commitment of Garrett and Kim to their respective sports, alongside their continuous communication and encouragement, highlights the synergy between two high-level athletes striving for excellence. Garrett’s presence at the Winter Olympics will not just motivate Kim personally but also exemplifies how elite athletes support each other amidst rigorous demands. As the Winter Games approach in Italy, Garrett’s backing may play a key role in Kim’s pursuit of her third consecutive Olympic gold.
