Josh Jobe Punches Stefon Diggs in Super Bowl Scuffle

During Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Seattle Seahawks defensive back Josh Jobe appeared to throw a punch at New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The incident took place in the second half after Diggs had run a route and went out of bounds, where Jobe shoved him before seemingly landing a blow to Diggs’ helmet.

No penalty flag was thrown on the play, and Jobe remained in the game without ejection.

New England Patriots Struggle Despite Scoring Momentum

Although a penalty might have aided the Patriots in advancing down the field, the absence of a flag did not prove to be a significant setback. On the same drive after the altercation, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye connected with Mack Hollins for a 35-yard touchdown. This touchdown narrowed New England’s deficit to 12 points early in the fourth quarter.

Following this, New England’s defense forced Seattle to punt, but the optimism was brief. The Patriots’ offense soon turned the ball over on an interception by Maye, allowing the Seahawks to regain a 22-7 lead.

New England’s hopes for a comeback were ultimately dashed as Seattle secured a 29-13 victory, setting a new Super Bowl loss record for the Patriots.

Performance Highlights for Jobe and Diggs in the Championship

Jobe contributed significantly to the Seahawks’ win, recording seven tackles, including one for loss, and one pass defended. Over the course of his season, he accumulated 54 tackles and 12 passes defended in 16 appearances, while limiting opposing quarterbacks to a 75.2 passer rating when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus.

Meanwhile, Diggs finished with three receptions totaling 37 yards. His season marked a successful return from a torn ACL, as he amassed 85 receptions for 1,013 yards prior to the game.

Potential Consequences of the On-Field Confrontation

Though officials did not call a penalty during the brief scuffle between Jobe and Diggs, the NFL may still consider disciplinary action and could impose a fine on Jobe for his behavior during the high-stakes matchup.
