Ernest Jones IV expressed deep emotion during the Seattle Seahawks‘ victorious Super Bowl LX game on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. After helping secure the team’s win over the New England Patriots, the linebacker was seen sitting on the field holding a towel with a photo of his late father, who passed away last summer.
On the Up and Adams Show episode aired Wednesday, Jones opened up about the significance of that moment and what it meant to him emotionally.
Jones Shares Personal Connection During the Super Bowl
Jones explained that though he could not physically bring his father to the Super Bowl, he sought to honor him in spirit.
“I was wanting to have a moment where I could bring my dad to the Super Bowl, but I couldn’t do it physically,” shared Jones (Time Stamp: 0:08).
The linebacker further reflected on the emotional impact the week had on him, feeling closer to his father’s memory than ever before.
“I felt him more in my spirit in my heart this week than I had since he’s left, and this was really special to get this Super Bowl for him,” added Jones (Time Stamp: 0:16).
Jones’ Rise with the Seahawks and Impact on the Field
Ernest Jones was acquired by the Seahawks in October 2024, traded in exchange for Jerome Baker and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Shortly before the new season began, he secured a three-year contract worth $33 million, including $15 million guaranteed, to stay with Seattle.
Before joining the Seahawks, Jones played six games for the Tennessee Titans in 2024, during which he tallied 44 tackles and two pass deflections. His defensive contributions were a key factor in Seattle’s championship run, especially evident in the Super Bowl where he recorded a game-high 10 tackles against New England.

Throughout the regular season, Jones led the Seahawks defensively with 126 tackles, including four tackles for loss and half a sack, solidifying himself as a crucial part of Seattle’s lineup.
Jones Defends Seahawks Quarterback amid Social Media Remarks
Jones also showed strong support for his teammates, particularly quarterback Sam Darnold. Following a tweet by Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua mocking Darnold late in the Super Bowl with a laughing emoji, Jones responded on X, criticizing Nacua for being at home instead of appreciating the game.
This was not the first time Jones had risen in defense of Darnold. After a narrow Week 11 loss to the Rams, despite Darnold throwing four interceptions in that 21-19 defeat, Jones expressed unwavering confidence in the quarterback’s performance throughout the season.
Seahawks Celebrate Second Super Bowl Victory
Seattle Seahawks secured their second Super Bowl title on Sunday by defeating the Patriots with a final score of 29-13. This victory capped off a season marked by resilience and strong team unity.
As fans and players celebrate, the Seahawks begin preparations for the next season, building on the momentum of their successful campaign.
