The Carolina Panthers have strengthened their coaching lineup by hiring Darrell Bevell as their new associate head coach and offensive specialist. This move comes after the Panthers completed their most successful season since 2017, finishing with eight wins and a playoff appearance, although their run ended with a narrow 34-31 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the wild card round.
On Wednesday, the Panthers added Bevell, a seasoned NFL veteran with more than 30 years of experience, to head coach Dave Canales’ staff. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Bevell joins Carolina after spending four seasons as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the Miami Dolphins.
At 56 years old, Bevell brings extensive expertise across multiple offensive roles, including 15 seasons as an offensive coordinator and time as an interim head coach. His most notable achievement is serving as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks during their dominant 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Earlier this offseason, Bevell was also a candidate for the Jets’ offensive coordinator job, which ultimately went to former NFL head coach Frank Reich. With his broad experience in various offensive systems, Bevell is expected to play a crucial role in improving the Panthers’ scoring offense.
The addition of Darrell Bevell signals Carolina’s commitment to enhancing their coaching staff with proven talent, aiming to build on last season’s progress and make a deeper playoff run in the coming year.
