Houston Texans Reveal New Suburban Facility Boosting Jobs

The Houston Texans are preparing to move their practice facility and team headquarters from their longtime location across the street from NRG Stadium to the Bridgeland community in Cypress, Texas. This change was revealed during the Harris County Commissioners Court meeting, with Commissioner Lesley Briones confirming the new facility will be situated in northwest Harris County, supporting the team’s continued growth and serving the Houston area.

Details of the New State-of-the-Art Training Complex

The Texans plan to dedicate around 22 acres of the 83-acre Bridgeland development to a cutting-edge global headquarters and training center. This mixed-use development will include retail, dining, hotel, commercial, entertainment, and medical office spaces across 61 acres within Bridgeland Central, the community’s 925-acre urban core. The project is anticipated to significantly impact economic activity and job creation across the region over the coming decades.

Economic Promise and Community Growth Boosted by Development

The Bridgeland project is expected to generate a substantial economic impact of approximately $34 billion, translating into more than 17,000 jobs in the immediate area. Commissioner Tom Ramsey emphasized that the agreement also covers improvements in infrastructure and expanded access to county services, while encouraging youth development and broader economic growth.

“This agreement covers everything from infrastructure improvements, more access to Harris County services, youth development, and economic growth – it truly is a great day for Harris County,”

Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey said.

Commissioner Briones highlighted the prioritization of local employment, projecting that the broader Toro District will create 60,000 jobs in the next decade, with 17,000 positions specifically tied to this project.

“There will be a prioritization for local jobs. This (relocation), specifically, 60,000 jobs will be created in the next decade, and 17,000 jobs specifically to this Toro District,”

Lesley Briones, Precinct 4 Commissioner, said.

Team Leadership’s Vision Behind the Facility Move

Texans’ ownership expressed enthusiasm about how the new facility aligns with their goals both on and off the field. McNair noted that the organization’s expansion supports bringing a championship to Houston, enhancing community services, and increasing sports accessibility.

“Our organization continues to grow, and this aligns with our goals of bringing a championship to Houston, enhancing community services and making sports more accessible,”

McNair said.

“This project reinforces our long-term commitment to Harris County and our focus on driving growth and opportunity for the community.”

Significance of the Move for Houston and the Texas NFL Landscape

As one of the few NFL teams currently lacking a separate practice facility, Houston’s new headquarters will address a longstanding need. This relocation also taps into the predicted growth of northwest Harris County, an area expected to see significant development over the next thirty years. The facility’s construction not only supports the Texans’ ambitions but also stimulates economic vitality and employment in Cypress and surrounding communities.
