Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Sued for Assault by Ex-Girlfriend

Dacoda Jones, the former partner of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, has initiated a lawsuit accusing him of multiple instances of physical assault over an 18-month period in Dallas, Texas, and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The complaint was officially submitted to Dallas County’s 162nd District Court on Monday, alleging abuse within the Victory Park residence that Jones and Rice previously shared near downtown Dallas.

Details of Alleged Abuse and Relationship Background

The lawsuit outlines that the alleged violence began in December 2023 and continued through July 2025, including episodes while Jones was pregnant. The couple has two sons together. According to the complaint, Rice engaged in a range of violent acts such as grabbing, choking, strangling, pushing, hitting, scratching, and headbutting Jones, as well as using inanimate objects to cause harm. It further describes incidents involving destruction of property, breaking furniture, and locking Jones out of the home during nighttime hours.

Defendant Rice has grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit, and headbutted Ms. Jones, as well as hit her with inanimate objects,

the lawsuit states.

Additionally, he has engaged in other violent and abusive behaviors towards Ms. Jones, including throwing objects, destroying property, punching walls, and breaking furniture, as well as locking her out in the middle of the night.

Previous Legal Troubles and Public Accusations

Rice previously attracted national attention following a high-speed hit-and-run incident on North Central Expressway in March 2024, which resulted in multiple injuries. At the time, Rice was driving a rented Lamborghini Urus at speeds reaching 119 mph alongside former SMU player Teddy Knox, who was speeding at approximately 116 mph in a Chevrolet Corvette registered to Rice. The crash led to Rice being sentenced to 30 days in jail and receiving five years of probation. The Kansas City Chiefs suspended him for six games due to a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

In late 2025, Jones publicly accused Rice of domestic violence through a series of Instagram posts that included photographs purportedly showing bruises, wounds, and damage to property. Although she did not name Rice in her posts, she identified him as the father of her children and described an incident where Rice broke the door of her new home after their separation.

Responses from Legal Counsel and NFL Representatives

Sean Lindsey, Rice’s attorney, questioned the claims, referencing a sworn affidavit submitted by Jones in October 2025 stating that following their breakup, an altercation they had was verbal and “he did not punch me.” Lindsey emphasized their intent to allow the legal process to proceed without further comment.

On October 9th, 2025, well after the parties’ relationship had ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a sworn Affidavit for Non-Prosecution that ‘Mr. Rice and I had a verbal argument, but he did not punch me.’ We will allow the legal process to run its course and have no further comment at this time,

Lindsey said in the statement.

A representative for the Chiefs acknowledged awareness of the lawsuit and noted the team’s ongoing communication with the National Football League.

League Review and Potential Consequences

Following Jones’ social media revelations, an NFL spokesperson stated that the league would examine the matter under its personal conduct policy. This review could result in disciplinary action given the serious nature of the allegations. Rice’s past legal issues and prior suspension may influence the league’s response.

Broader Implications for Rice and the Chiefs Organization

This lawsuit adds to ongoing scrutiny surrounding Rashee Rice, who remains a key player for the Kansas City Chiefs after his collegiate career at Southern Methodist University. The allegations of assault, combined with Rice’s previous hit-and-run conviction, place additional pressure on the player and his team amid public and league evaluation. The case’s progression in Dallas County’s court system will be closely watched, potentially shaping Rice’s professional future and impacting the Chiefs’ roster decisions.
