An ex-girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has brought a lawsuit against him in Texas, alleging multiple assaults over an 18-month period from 2023 to 2025. Dacoda Jones, who claims to have been pregnant during many of the incidents, is seeking damages exceeding $1 million. The lawsuit lists acts of physical violence that reportedly occurred while the couple lived in Texas and Missouri.
Details of Alleged Abuse Include Physical Violence and Property Damage
Jones alleges that Rice strangled her in December 2023 and engaged in a consistent pattern of abuse throughout their relationship. According to the complaint, Rice physically attacked Jones in various ways, including grabbing, choking, pushing, scratching, hitting, and headbutting her. The suit also charges Rice with striking her using inanimate objects.
Beyond the physical assaults, Jones reports that Rice punched walls, damaged property, and broke furniture, sometimes locking her out of their apartment at night. She claims the abuse caused her significant physical and emotional harm, including ongoing pain, disfigurement, and loss of income, alongside the need for medical treatment both past and future.
Law Enforcement Status and Legal Responses
It is not clear if local police departments in Dallas or Kansas City were notified about incidents of domestic violence occurring at the couple’s residences, as public records requests have not revealed any reports. One of Jones’ attorneys declined to comment on the case.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs acknowledged their awareness of the lawsuit and confirmed ongoing communication with the National Football League. No responses have been received from Rice or his representatives regarding the allegations.
Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, pointed out a sworn affidavit filed by Jones on October 9, 2025, after the relationship had ended, where she stated under penalty of perjury that
“Mr. Rice and I had a verbal argument, but he did not punch me.”
Lindsey added,
“We will allow the legal process to run its course and have no further comment at this time.”
Jones’ current suit does not mention any incident occurring on October 9 nor does it claim Rice punched her.
Public Exposure of Alleged Abuse and NFL Investigation
Jones shared images on Instagram last month showing injuries including a bruised lip, bruises on her legs and chest, face and shoulder scratches, as well as photos of damaged property. She indirectly referred to her alleged abuser as the father of her two children. In her now-deleted post, she wrote,
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH!”
and noted that their breakup in 2025 had led to “nothing but hell.”
The NFL announced it would investigate following the public allegations and later confirmed that the case remains under review.
Rice’s Previous Legal Troubles and NFL Discipline
In 2025, Rashee Rice pleaded guilty to felony collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury, related to a multiple-vehicle crash in Dallas in May 2024. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years of probation, and ordered to pay more than $115,000 in restitution to the victims. At the time of the crash, Rice was reportedly driving at 119 mph.
As a result of this incident, the NFL suspended Rice for six games last season under its personal conduct policy.
Potential Impact on Rice and the Chiefs Organization
This lawsuit adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Rashee Rice as he faces serious allegations of domestic abuse during a period in which he was also involved in criminal legal issues. The Kansas City Chiefs’ acknowledgment of the lawsuit and coordination with the NFL indicate that the case could have implications for his professional career. The league’s continued review signals potential disciplinary actions pending the legal outcome.
As the lawsuit progresses, more information is likely to emerge that will clarify the full extent of the allegations and their impact on Rice’s standing with the Chiefs and the NFL. Meanwhile, the accusations highlight the broader challenges professional sports organizations face when addressing off-field conduct and player accountability.
