Fans Demand Lifetime NFL Ban for Chiefs’ Rashee Rice After Abuse Claims

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice faces a six-game suspension for the 2025 NFL season following a chain-reaction car crash in Dallas on March 30, 2024, which led to felony convictions for Rice. Additionally, his ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, has publicly accused him of domestic abuse spanning nearly two years, prompting widespread calls from fans for Rice to be banned from the league indefinitely. The Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL are aware of the escalating allegations, leaving Rice’s future with the team uncertain.

Details Surrounding Suspension and Legal Charges

Rice’s suspension stems from a collision that caused serious bodily injury, to which he pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony counts. This incident brought him back into the spotlight under troubling circumstances after demonstrating significant promise as a key player for the Chiefs. The suspension will keep him sidelined for the first six games of the 2025 season, casting doubt on his standing with the team and league.

Domestic Violence Accusations Surface from Former Partner

Following the Chiefs’ regular season conclusion, Dacoda Jones, Rice’s ex-girlfriend and mother of two of his children, shared a disturbing account of ongoing abuse lasting approximately 19 months. She described years of controlling and violent behavior, including incidents of Rice forcibly entering her home, physically assaulting her while she was pregnant, and subjecting her to emotional and financial neglect.

“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image. I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell,”

Jones posted on Instagram.

“He’s very controlling there’s been times he’s came to my new home broken my door, there’s been times when he would put his hands on me while I was pregnant even had the audacity to lock me outside all night in ten degree weather because he got caught cheating. He’s cut up all my shoes and clothes leaving me with nothing because he’s gotten caught up. And there’s multiple instances of cheating but besides that I’m just tired of him not doing right by my boys. It’s not fair he doesn’t call them. He literally left us in Kansas and I had to beg him to send money so that I could drive to Texas with my kids and all our stuff.”

Formal Lawsuit Alleges Repeated Assault and Abuse

On February 18, 2024, TMZ reported that Jones filed a lawsuit against Rice, accusing him of repeated physical assaults over nearly two years. She is seeking more than $1 million in damages for injuries she alleges, which include bleeding, bruising, swelling, and more serious harm documented during abuse incidents, many of which allegedly happened during her pregnancy.

“Jones — who has two children with Rice — says she was also subject to ‘other violent and abusive behaviors,’ which included the Chiefs’ wideout throwing things at her, ‘punching walls, and breaking furniture,’”

TMZ reported.

“Jones claims the abuse caused ‘bleeding, swelling, bruising, and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest, and shoulder.’ To make matters worse, Dacoda says most of the abuse occurred while she was pregnant.”

Despite Rice currently being slated to play in Week 1 of the upcoming season, many fans demand he face stringent consequences, including a lifetime ban from professional football. Fans and advocacy groups continue to push for zero tolerance regarding abuse by players, highlighting growing demands for accountability within the NFL. Rice’s case may serve as a pivotal example in how the league addresses player conduct off the field, especially involving domestic violence and public safety concerns.
