Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders expressed his feelings on social media following the announcement of veteran offensive lineman Wyatt Teller’s departure. On Wednesday, Teller revealed in a heartfelt message that he would not return to the Browns as an unrestricted free agent, ending his tenure with the team.
In his statement, Teller reflected on the impact Cleveland has had on his life since being traded from Buffalo seven years ago. He acknowledged the Browns for taking a chance on him, shaping his career and personal journey in profound ways.
I wish things were different and this is hard to put into words. When Buffalo traded me to Cleveland seven years ago, I never could have imagined how much this city would mean to me,
Teller wrote.
While we are excited and look forward to what the future holds, Cleveland will always have a special place in our hearts. As always… Go Browns!
Many Browns teammates, including Sanders, left comments reacting to the news. Sanders expressed his sadness, writing, Gonna miss you bro, followed by a sad face emoji. Defensive end Myles Garrett also shared his feelings, saying, Love you brotha.
Potential Changes Loom for Browns’ Offensive Line
Teller’s exit may mark the beginning of substantial changes along the Browns’ offensive line. Other key players such as center Ethan Pocic, tackle Jack Conklin, and guard Joel Bitonio are also set to become unrestricted free agents. This creates a possibility for significant roster turnover in the line’s core.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry hinted at this transition near the end of the season, suggesting the offensive line’s composition could shift considerably as the team moves into the next year.
I think the reality of it is a year ago, when we decided to make the pivot that we did, you also realize that you’re not going to be able to accomplish everything at once for the roster,
Berry said.
The offensive line, that’s a position group that I do imagine will have a fair amount of turnover as we go into 2026. But we also do feel like it was important this year, and quite honestly going into next year, to give young players snaps if we’re ultimately going to build the core and foundation that we need to win perennially.
Quarterback Role Remains Uncertain for Coming Season
The Browns also face questions about their quarterback situation ahead of next season. Shedeur Sanders finished the last seven games as the starter and is considered the leading candidate for the role, but head coach Todd Monken stopped short of confirming that during his introduction.
Well, I think like any position on the team, that’s still to be determined. Am I excited about Shedeur? Am I excited about all the quarterbacks in the room? Am I excited to coach this football team? Absolutely,
Monken stated.
I can’t wait for them to get back and for us to get started.
During his rookie season, Sanders posted a 3-4 record as a starter, throwing for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Although his performance had ups and downs, Sanders expressed optimism about his growth and future potential.
You can see it. It’s kind of like mastering how to get to that place all the time,
Sanders explained on the Up & Adams show.
You have flashes. That’s the most thing I appreciate about this year is that I proved to myself, I’m able to dominate the league. But I’m able to take completions, I’m able to put all of that together, and definitely in games, we have flashes, but I know I’m capable of doing that. Now, to do it on a consistent basis, that’s what the goal is. But for me in this past season, that’s what proved to myself. No matter what happened, no matter anything that transpired, you are able to go out there and compete.
In addition to Sanders, the Browns also have quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Deshaun Watson under contract for the upcoming season, setting up continued competition within the team for the starting role.
Broader Implications for Cleveland Browns’ Roster Stability
The departure of Wyatt Teller highlights a period of uncertainty and transition for the Cleveland Browns, especially regarding key positions like the offensive line and quarterback. With several veteran players likely to enter free agency and a new coaching staff evaluating talent, the Browns face important decisions that will shape their trajectory for the 2026 season.
For Sanders, Teller, and their teammates, the evolving roster presents both challenges and opportunities as they strive to build a more consistent and competitive team. How the Browns navigate this period will be crucial in determining their success in the near future and their ability to establish a sustainable winning foundation.
"Whenever I feel like me, then everything works out… I've proven to myself, I'm able to dominate the league."
