Shaheed’s Journey from Undrafted Rookie to Impact Player

Rashid Shaheed, 27, began his professional career after going undrafted in 2022 out of Weber State, where he earned recognition as a four-time All-American kick returner. He initially signed with the New Orleans Saints and made an immediate impact by scoring a 44-yard rushing touchdown on his very first NFL carry, followed by a 54-yard touchdown reception on his first catch.

Before joining Seattle, Shaheed was tendered by the Saints as an exclusive rights free agent, later signing an extension. The Saints traded him midseason in 2025 to the Seahawks in exchange for fourth and fifth-round draft picks.

Shaheed’s 2025 Season Performance and NFL Free Agent Status

During the 2025 season, Shaheed played 18 games split between New Orleans and Seattle. He recorded 59 receptions for 687 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, Shaheed contributed significantly on special teams with 339 punt return yards and a touchdown on 23 returns, plus 447 kick return yards and another touchdown on 15 returns. His dynamic playmaking abilities have placed him among the top 100 free agents in the 2026 NFL class.

The Outlook for Rashid Shaheed’s NFL Future

As Rashid Shaheed becomes a free agent, his expressed wish to re-sign with the Seahawks highlights his desire to continue building on last season’s success. With his proven versatility as a receiver and return specialist, Shaheed’s potential return to Seattle could play a key role in the Seahawks’ upcoming campaigns.
