Rashid Shaheed Ready to ‘Run It Back’ with Seahawks

Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is already looking ahead to his career after playing a key role in the Seattle Seahawks‘ recent Super Bowl win. Set to become a free agent in March, Shaheed contributed significantly to the Seahawks’ championship run, which culminated in a victory over the New England Patriots. His aspirations clearly include continuing his journey with the Seahawks as he approaches free agency.

Shaheed’s Desire to Return to the Seahawks

After being acquired from the New Orleans Saints during the season, Shaheed’s impact was felt immediately. Despite being new to the team, the 27-year-old expressed strong interest in re-signing with Seattle.

“Conversations are definitely going to be heating up towards March. But you know, I would love to come back. I loved my experience here, I’m loving the Pacific Northwest, and obviously, the organization is second to none,”

Shaheed said, reflecting on his time with the franchise and the region. In his own words, he added,

“I kind of want to run it back. We just won the Super Bowl, so, you know, why not?”

Contributions and Impact on the Seahawks’ Offense

Shaheed’s role as a deep-threat receiver was crucial for the Seahawks’ offensive stability throughout the season. Known for his exceptional speed and ability to make big plays, he proved to be a dependable asset, even in limited opportunities compared to his time with the Saints. His arrival resolved earlier doubts about fitting into Seattle’s offensive system, establishing him as a consistent option in critical moments. Shaheed emphasized his motivation, stating,

“The goal for me is just to continue to win. Now that I’ve got a taste of a Super Bowl championship, I’m gonna continue to work towards that every year.”

Statistical Highlights and Prospects Ahead

During nine appearances with the Seahawks, Shaheed recorded 15 receptions for 188 yards and also contributed seven rush attempts totaling 64 yards, marking a personal best. His ability to perform in various roles underscores his value as the team prepares for the next season. As Seattle navigates the upcoming free agency period, retaining Shaheed could significantly bolster their offensive arsenal and maintain the momentum from their championship success.
