Trevor Lawrence’s Surprise Congrats Sparks Bridgeman’s Genesis Win

Jacob Bridgeman secured his first PGA Tour title at the Genesis Invitational, held recently, drawing congratulatory messages from fellow Clemson Tigers stars Trevor Lawrence and Dabo Swinney. The 26-year-old golfer maintained his lead despite pressure from rivals, capturing the win with a critical par on the final hole.

Bridgeman began the final round with a significant six-shot advantage, but a tense finish saw his lead narrow to just one stroke by the 18th hole. Nonetheless, he held firm against top competitors including Rory McIlroy and Kurt Kitayama to secure the victory.

Reflecting on Lawrence’s support, Bridgeman noted,

“Yeah, Trevor and I were the same age at Clemson, but he was so famous before he even got to school that he couldn’t really hang out with anybody.”

He added,

“I met him a few times, talked to him. He’s a super nice guy. I’ve been a fan of his kind of his whole NFL career. I’m so glad that he had an amazing season this past year and almost won an MVP.”

So super nice guy. I am glad he was watching, and that’s super special that he sent that.

Dabo Swinney’s Encouragement Holds Great Meaning for Bridgeman

Bridgeman also spoke warmly about receiving recognition from Dabo Swinney, head football coach at Clemson for nearly two decades. Swinney’s engagement with Bridgeman and other golfers during their time at Clemson left a lasting impression.

“And Dabo has been probably the most important guy in Clemson history the last 20 years or so. Amazing man,”

Bridgeman said.

“He would show up to the golf facility all the time, just run by, talk to the guys, ask for a couple of tips on his chipping, and scoot on by.”

So very, very nice guy. I’m glad that they’re supportive of me; that means a lot.
