Jordyn Tyson, a wide receiver from Arizona State and a potential draft pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will not participate in any drills at the upcoming NFL Combine, sources report. Tyson’s absence from the drills is due to ongoing recovery from a hamstring injury sustained late in the Arizona State football season.
Tyson’s Injury Challenges Throughout College Career
Tyson’s college tenure has been significantly affected by injuries. This past season, he faced hamstring issues in both legs, a new development in his injury history. Additionally, Tyson suffered a fractured collarbone in 2024. He transferred from Colorado to Arizona State after the 2023 season, but his most serious injury occurred in 2022 when he tore his PCL, ACL, and MCL ligaments in his knee. This injury sidelined him for the entire 2023 season.
Strong On-Field Performance Despite Setbacks
Despite his injury struggles, Tyson has demonstrated impressive production when healthy. In the 2024 season, he achieved a career-high with 1,101 receiving yards on 75 receptions. Within nine games this year, Tyson recorded 711 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, confirming his potential as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL Draft.
Medical Evaluations Will Influence Steelers’ Decision
While Tyson’s ability to generate yardage and catches is not in question, his medical status remains a significant factor for the Steelers and other teams considering him. The thorough medical examinations that will follow will be critical in assessing his long-term durability and overall draft value.
