The Indianapolis Colts have officially re-signed kicker Blake Grupe to a one-year contract valued at $1.4 million, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. The deal extends Grupe’s tenure with the Colts after his mid-season arrival and reflects the team’s confidence in his abilities moving forward.
Grupe’s Journey from Undrafted Talent to NFL Starter
At 27 years old, Blake Grupe played college football at Arkansas State before transferring to Notre Dame. Despite going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, he was signed by the New Orleans Saints as a free agent and impressed enough in training camp to earn the starting kicker role. Initially expected to remain a restricted free agent through 2026, Grupe was released by the Saints at the end of November 2025.
Performance Overview During the 2025 Season
In the 2025 season, Grupe participated in 11 games for the Saints, successfully converting 18 of 26 field goal attempts, a 69.2 percent success rate, alongside making all 15 extra point attempts. Following his move to the Colts in December, he appeared in five games, where he achieved a perfect record by making all 11 field goal attempts and all 10 extra points.
What This Means for the Colts Moving Forward
By securing Grupe with this contract, the Colts aim to stabilize their kicking position with a player who has shown resilience and strong performance late in the season. Given his consistent accuracy with the Colts and experience gained across two teams, Grupe’s role looks set to be critical in the upcoming NFL campaign.
