Falcons Secure Jake Bailey with $9M, 3-Year Deal

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to sign punter Jake Bailey to a three-year contract worth $9 million, with $5 million fully guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This move adds a proven specialist to the Falcons’ roster ahead of the upcoming NFL seasons.

Bailey’s Career and Contract History

Jake Bailey, 28, entered the NFL in 2019 when the New England Patriots selected him in the fifth round after his college career at Stanford. He initially signed a four-year rookie deal valued at just under $3 million. Bailey earned a Pro Bowl berth, which was set to increase his earnings to nearly $4 million in 2022. That same year, he agreed to a four-year, $13.5 million extension with the Patriots before being waived in 2023.

Recent Performances and Team Changes

Following his release by New England, Bailey signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins and later extended his stay with a two-year contract. In the 2025 season, he appeared in all 17 games for Miami, averaging an impressive 47.7 yards per punt on 63 attempts, downing 21 inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

Implications for the Falcons Going Forward

By securing Jake Bailey with this multi-year deal, the Falcons have reinforced their special teams unit with a reliable punter who has demonstrated consistency and strong performance metrics. This signing is likely to enhance field position battles and provide stability in the kicking game for Atlanta in the near future.
