Seahawks Lock In Josh Jobe with New 3-Year Deal

The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement to extend cornerback Josh Jobe‘s contract for three years, valued at $24 million, according to a source cited by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. This deal ensures Jobe remains a key part of Seattle‘s secondary moving forward.

Jobe’s Rise from Undrafted Player to Defensive Asset

At 27 years old, Josh Jobe has developed from an undrafted free agent into a dependable No. 2 cornerback for the Seahawks, who recently finished with the NFL’s top scoring defense. While Jobe recorded just one interception over 16 regular-season games last year, his coverage performance consistently impressed evaluators.

NFL Next Gen Stats highlighted Jobe’s efficiency in coverage during the 2025 season, showing he allowed only 5.4 yards per target and a 47.7% completion rate. Both statistics ranked him fourth out of 61 cornerbacks who faced at least 50 targets, with a passer rating against of 71.1, placing him fifth overall.

From Alabama to Philadelphia and Then Seattle

Jobe began his professional journey with the Philadelphia Eagles after going undrafted in 2022 following a national championship-winning collegiate career at Alabama. Over two seasons in Philadelphia, he played 28 games and started three before being released during roster cuts in 2024.

Shortly after, he joined the Seahawks practice squad and earned a promotion to the active roster by November 2024. Serving as the No. 3 cornerback behind Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen, Jobe contributed one interception and seven passes defensed in the last 10 games of that season.

Climbing to a Starting Role and Impacting Seattle’s Defense

Jobe advanced to Seattle’s No. 2 cornerback position ahead of the 2025 season by surpassing Woolen on the depth chart. His role grew significantly as he defended 12 passes over the course of the regular season, despite missing one game due to a concussion and another in the playoffs.

What This Means for the Seahawks’ Defensive Future

By securing Josh Jobe on a long-term deal, the Seahawks demonstrate their confidence in his role within their strong defensive unit. His progression from fringe roster player to starter highlights his potential to contribute consistently for Seattle’s secondary. This contract extension signals stability for the Seahawks, who aim to maintain their standing among the league’s elite defenses in upcoming seasons.
