Niederreiter appeared in five games for Switzerland, contributing one goal and spending two minutes in penalties. Despite his efforts, Switzerland finished fifth, narrowly falling 3-2 in overtime against Finland during the quarterfinal round.

Hellebuyck showcased exceptional skill in net, stopping 131 of 137 shots during the tournament for an outstanding save percentage of .956. In the gold medal match, he recorded 41 saves on 42 shots, raising his save percentage to .976 and earning a nomination for best goaltender of the event.
