The Seattle Kraken announced on Tuesday they have reached agreement on two-year contract extensions with forwards Ryan Winterton and Ben Meyers. The moves come as the team looks ahead to the post-Olympic break stretch, aiming to strengthen its roster for a playoff push.
Player Performance and Recent Contributions
Ryan Winterton, 22, has played a career-high 54 games this season, setting personal records with three goals and 12 assists. Prior to this season, he appeared in 19 games for Seattle over two years. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Ben Meyers has split his time between the Kraken and their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. With Seattle, Meyers has logged 31 games, scoring five goals and adding six assists, although he has been sidelined since January 27 due to a lower-body injury.

General manager Jason Botterill spoke positively about both players, emphasizing their roles on the team. Regarding Meyers, Botterill said,
“Ben is an integral part of our team,”
adding,
“He’s a versatile player who plays with passion. We’re happy to have him signed for another two years.”
On Winterton, Botterill noted,
“Ryan has taken big strides as a member of the Kraken this season,”
and continued,
“He’s been able to carve out a role on this team with his speed and strong two-way game. We’re excited to have him under contract through the 2027-28 season.”
