Shea Theodore was recalled from the Chicago Wolves on Monday, strengthening the Golden Knights’ defensive lineup. The 22-year-old defenseman’s return comes as the Golden Knights build on an impressive start to the season, having won five straight games and eight of their first nine.

Theodore, a former first-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks, dominated at the AHL level with 11 points in eight games (five goals, six assists), ranking sixth in league scoring despite playing defense. His strong showing left no doubt that he deserved an NHL roster spot. Initially cut at training camp due to the team’s surplus of defensemen and waiver considerations, Theodore’s recall followed recent moves sending Jason Garrison and Griffin Reinhart to Chicago.
Vegas head coach Gerard Gallant praised Theodore’s time in Chicago:
“He went down to Chicago, played great hockey down there,”
Gallant said.
“(Wolves head coach) Rocky Thompson said every game he played, he was one of their best players.”

The Golden Knights currently have Nate Schmidt, Deryk Engelland, Colin Miller, Luca Sbisa, Brad Hunt, Brayden McNabb, and Jon Merrill on defense. Prior to joining Vegas in the Expansion Draft, Theodore played 53 regular season and 20 playoff games with Anaheim, where he was seen as a promising young talent.
