Lucas Glover has been chosen by PGA Tour members to lead the Player Advisory Council as chairman for the year 2026. This decision comes despite Glover’s previous criticisms of the PGA Tour’s direction, marking a significant shift ahead of his oversight of the 16-player advisory group.
Election and Leadership Transition
Glover secured the position over the current chairman, Adam Scott, and will serve as the voice of the players within the council. After completing his one-year tenure as chairman, Glover will take on a four-year role on the PGA Tour’s policy board starting in 2027 and continuing through 2030.
Changing Perspective on the Council’s Role
Previously, Glover referred to the Player Advisory Council as “a waste of time” and “useless,” expressing skepticism about its influence, stating that the PGA Tour was
“going to do what they’re going to do.”
His stance has notably softened with this new role.
At this point in my career, it’s not like I can stand on the range all day and hit balls,
Glover said, per Golfweek.
So I’ve got time, and there’s enough guys that want my voice in there to be heard, that I should probably do it.
Glover’s Career and Significance of His Election
At 46 years old, Glover brings experience from six PGA Tour victories, including his notable 2009 U.S. Open win. His election as PAC chairman indicates a potential new direction for the council and suggests that more players are seeking a stronger collective voice in PGA Tour decisions. With Glover’s transition from critic to leader, the next few years could bring increased player engagement and possibly more influence over tour policies.
