Tough Battle in the Semifinal

Waters and Jansen faced off just days ago in the Cape Coral final, where Waters also won in straight games. This time, Jansen started strong, jumping to a 5-1 lead in the opening game with sharp movement and precise shots at the kitchen line.

Despite Jansen’s fast start, Waters worked her way back, engaging in intense rallies and eventually controlling the match.

Disruption in Game 2

A moment of tension arose in the second game when Jansen’s diabetes monitor alarmed during a rally she won. Waters called for a hindrance, leading the referee to order a replay of the point and ask Jansen to silence the device. Jansen expressed frustration, but play resumed smoothly afterward.

Injury Update and Final Matchup

Waters had suffered a leg injury in her quarterfinal against Zoey Chao Yi Wang after jumping over a barrier.

“It’s definitely pretty swollen and bothering me a little bit, but when you get on court, adrenaline definitely kicks in, and if I was having any other aches and pains in my body, this was making up for it and honestly numbing it.” – (Waters)

“Lea was definitely hitting the ball pretty hard and getting in. She’s super long, so it’s tough to pass her. I had to make sure that I was trying to take things early and take time away from her.” – (Waters)

Waters will now face No. 4 seed Kate Fahey in Sunday’s final.
