Tyra Black and Parris Todd Shine in 2025 CIBC Texas Open Final, Secure Women’s Doubles Gold

Tyra Black and Parris Todd captured their first women’s doubles title as a team at the CIBC Texas Open, defeating No. 5 seeds Callie Smith and Etta Tuionetoa 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 on Championship Sunday.

With both top seeds eliminated on Saturday, the final featured two teams eager to capitalize on the opportunity. Black and Todd, seeded No. 3, seized control after falling behind 1-5 in the opening game. They responded with a dominant 10-point run to take Game 1 and never looked back.

Controlled Play Leads to Victory

Todd’s precision on third-shot drops and Black’s composed aggression proved too much for Smith and Tuionetoa. The duo comfortably closed out the final two games by nearly identical scores, securing the sweep. For Black, the victory held personal significance, marking the second anniversary of her decision to turn professional.

“It’s been exactly two years since I decided to become a professional pickleball player, so this means so much to me to win this week.” – (Tyra Black)
