The Kosmas Pickle Fest 2026 officially commenced on February 25 at Pickletown in Davao City, marking a significant moment in the growing popularity of pickleball across the Philippines. This inaugural event features competitions for both Under-19 Rising Stars and adult categories, highlighting the sport’s expanding community and competitive spirit.
Initially introduced in Cebu in 2016 as a niche activity, pickleball has rapidly evolved into a major sporting movement nationwide. The country now boasts over 250 clubs and thousands of players concentrated in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, positioning the Philippines as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing pickleball hubs.
Davao City Emerges as a Focal Point for Philippine Pickleball
As a growing hotspot for nurturing pickleball talent, Davao City serves as an apt location for the opening leg of the week-long festival. The event is organized by Sunrise Events, Inc. in partnership with Kosmas Athletic Ventures Corp. (KAVC), a wellness and sports firm led by Sophia Lapus. The competition will run through March 1, drawing players from across regions to compete and connect.
Teams interested in participating can still register, with the U19 Rising Stars division requiring a fee of USD 200 per team, while the adult doubles registration is priced at 3,000 pesos per pair.

Expanding National Reach through Multi-Leg Festival Format
More than a single tournament, Pickle Fest 2026 is structured as a multi-leg national festival aiming to unite elite athletes, community enthusiasts, and brand partners throughout key Philippine regions. Following the Mindanao segment, the festival will move to Visayas, incorporating competitive play alongside community involvement, sports tourism, and brand activities to reinforce pickleball’s expanding footprint in the country’s sports culture.
The next event, the Net and Paddle tournament, is scheduled for March 11 to 15 in Cebu City.
Focus on Youth Development Through Regional Rising Stars Championship
Central to the festival is the Under-19 Rising Stars championship, designed as a regional youth competition to identify and cultivate promising athletes under 19 from across Asia. This program operates independently, emphasizing athlete growth, standardized competition, and collaboration among regions with a team-based format.
The championship functions as the official youth pathway for the Pickleball Champions League (PCL) Asia network, aligning with global standards for junior sports development and providing Filipino youth with a structured route to international competition.
Teams in the Rising Stars division consist of four players—two male and two female—competing in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and two mixed doubles categories. Each participating region qualifies one team through Sectional Qualifiers, with the grand finals set to take place in Hainan Island, China. PCL Asia will cover all qualifying teams’ airfare, local transportation, accommodation, and meals.
Moreover, teams earning qualification will receive a $1,000 development grant along with essential equipment such as paddles, balls, and official apparel, fostering ongoing athlete development beyond the competition.
Adult Players Welcomed Across a Variety of Skill Levels and Age Groups
The festival also opens its doors to adult pickleball players of diverse skill levels, reflecting the sport’s inclusive appeal. Competition categories include Newbie (2.0–2.99), Low Intermediate (3.0–3.49), High Intermediate (3.5–3.99), and Open (unrestricted skill level). Matches will be played in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles formats across age divisions of 20+, 35+, and 50+.
This broad spectrum of divisions offers a welcoming environment for all enthusiasts to compete and engage with the pickleball community.
Pickleball’s Growing Influence in Philippine Sports and Future Prospects
With the Pickle Fest 2026, organized by Kosmas Athletic Ventures Corp. and supported by Sunrise Events, Inc., the Philippines is charting a dynamic course in making pickleball a staple sport nationwide. Sophia Lapus’s leadership in the company and the event’s multi-region approach underscore the potential to elevate the sport’s standards and accessibility.
The event’s structure, balancing youth development and adult competition alongside community efforts and sports tourism, promises to deepen pickleball’s popularity. As more players and regions join, the sport may inspire further regional collaboration and open pathways for Filipino athletes to shine in international arenas like the PCL Asia Grand Finals in China.
