Singapore will hold its inaugural Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour Asia event from July 23 to 26, 2026, marking a milestone in the nation’s growing pickleball scene. The PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open, featuring a prize pool of US$70,000, is set to be the sixth stop in the region’s 2026 professional pickleball circuit, highlighting Singapore’s emergence on the international pickleball map.
Expanding the Reach of Professional Pickleball Across Asia
The 2026 PPA Tour Asia calendar spans ten events throughout the region, beginning with the MB Hanoi Cup in Vietnam from April 1 to 5 and culminating in the Hong Kong Slam from October 19 to 25. The Hong Kong Slam, boasting a prize purse of US$1.1 million, will be the largest professional pickleball tournament ever hosted in Asia.
Besides the Singapore Open, tournaments are scheduled in countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, Macau, China, and Japan. These events will offer prize money ranging from US$50,000 to US$300,000, underlining the sport’s rapidly growing professional platform in Asia.
Preceding the Singapore Open, Singapore will also host a PPA Asia 125 event, PickleSlam 2026, from April 11 to 19. The PPA Asia 125 series is designed to nurture rising talent by providing competitive opportunities within the PPA Tour Asia framework, where players can earn up to 125 ranking points and qualify for higher-tier tournaments.

Growing Professional Opportunities and Regional Development
The PPA Tour Asia, launched in 2025, has rapidly expanded, featuring seven events across multiple countries during its first season. The tour operates under the United Pickleball Association (UPA), which also oversees Major League Pickleball (MLP) after a 2024 merger. While the PPA focuses on individual bracket-style tournaments, the MLP emphasizes team-based competitions.
Kimberly Koh, managing director of UPA Asia, highlighted Asia’s importance in the global growth plans for the sport, emphasizing expanding coverage into new cities and engaging a broader community of professional and amateur players across the region.

“With the Hong Kong Slam set to bring together the sport’s top stars, passionate fans, and world-class entertainment, it’s the perfect finale to what promises to be a landmark year for the sport.” – Kimberly Koh, UPA Asia Managing Director
The UPA Asia Trailblazers Programme, initiated in 2025, provides promising Asian players with intensive training and mentorship at international-quality facilities. Significance of Hosting the PPA Event in Singapore
Hosting the PPA Asia 500 Singapore Open underscores Singapore’s rising status within the global pickleball community and supports the sport’s continuing expansion in the region. This event will give local players and fans access to elite-level matches without the need to travel far, potentially inspiring more athletes to pursue competitive pickleball careers.
The tournament also contributes to a larger vision of building a vibrant professional pickleball ecosystem in Asia, with multiple tournaments that attract talent from across the continent and beyond. This growth is likely to increase the sport’s visibility, popularity, and investment opportunities throughout the region over the coming years.
