Hernandez Warns Strickland: “I’m Going to Torture Him” at UFC

As UFC Houston approaches this weekend, the rivalry between middleweights Anthony Hernandez and Sean Strickland is intensifying. Strickland, a former UFC middleweight champion, will face Hernandez in a pivotal matchup that could affect the future of the division. Strickland returns after a UFC 312 defeat to Dricus du Plessis last year and a suspension following an off-Octagon controversy, while Hernandez looks to continue his ascent in the promotion.

Provocative Social Media Post Escalates the Feud

Known for his brash attitude and provocative behavior, Strickland recently shared a controversial Photoshopped image targeting Hernandez’s Mexican heritage. The post depicted Strickland in an ICE uniform alongside Hernandez wearing a sombrero, drawing criticism for its offensive nature. This action clearly struck a nerve with Hernandez, who did not hold back in his response.

Hernandez’s Strong Reaction to Strickland’s Taunts

Speaking to the New York Post, Anthony Hernandez addressed Strickland’s attempt to rattle him before their fight. He expressed frustration with the disrespectful imagery and acknowledged the deeper implications of such provocations on his community.

“Honestly, I laughed when I saw that s—. If that’s the best you’ve got to get in my head, it’s going to be a long f—— night,”

Hernandez said.

He continued,

“It’s f—– up, yeah, and I don’t like seeing s— like that. I don’t like that my people gotta go through s— like that. Bu tit’s life, and it’s the reality of it. Some people are just dirtbags and like to bring it up.”

“I hope he keeps that same online energy in the cage because I’m going to f—– torture him.”

Fight Stakes Increase with Title Implications

The winner of Hernandez versus Strickland could earn the next shot at UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev’s title. This added significance only inflames the already heated atmosphere between the fighters, promising a high-intensity battle at UFC Houston. The contest now carries more than just personal pride, as the division’s championship picture hangs in the balance.
