When the UFC returns to Winnipeg on April 18, after an absence of nearly ten years, Canadian mixed martial artist Julien Leblanc will be one of the featured competitors. The middleweight from Gatineau, Quebec, has been added to the Fight Night card at the Canada Life Centre, marking his first appearance in the promotion.
Leblanc’s Record and Upcoming Opponent
Leblanc, 34, boasts a professional MMA record of 10 wins and 2 losses, currently riding a five-fight winning streak. His most recent victory was a second-round submission over Ryan Rohovich in November 2025. He will face Swiss fighter Robert Valentin, who competes at 185 pounds. Valentin, 30, is seeking his first UFC win after a challenging 0-3 start since his August 2024 debut. Two of his losses have come by TKO, including a defeat in July 2025 to Ateba Gautier in just over a minute.
Other Canadian Fighters Spotlighted for Winnipeg Event
Alongside Leblanc, other Canadian fighters on the card include Melissa Croden, Jasmine Jasduvicius, and headliner Mike Malott. This marks only the third UFC visit to Winnipeg, the first since December 2017. Malott is set to headline the event, battling No. 11-ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns.
Significance of UFC’s Return to Winnipeg
The inclusion of multiple Canadian athletes highlights the growing local talent as the UFC returns to the heart of the Prairies. Fans can expect an exciting night with a mix of rising stars and established contenders competing on home soil. This event will likely enhance UFC’s presence in Canada and provide opportunities for homegrown fighters like Leblanc to make their mark on a global stage.
