YMCA’s Pickleball Tournament Smashes 200K Dollar Milestone for Youth Programs!

The YMCA Strong Kids Pickleball Tournament has raised over $200,000 in just three years. The milestone was reached Thursday during the third annual event, held at the former Cascades plant in Belleville. The fundraiser supports youth programs at Belleville and Quinte West YMCA locations.

Tournament Highlights

This year’s tournament featured two teams: Belleville’s Big Dills, led by Sarah Rozema-Seaton, and Quinte West’s Durkin’s Gherkins, led by Tim Durkin. Nearly 40 players took part, each raising at least $1,000 to enter.

Belleville won the tournament, while Quinte West won the fundraising competition. Kurt Gregoire stood out as the top individual fundraiser, bringing in over $6,000.

Support for YMCA Youth Programs

The event raised $67,700 this year alone, all going toward Strong Kids programming. These YMCA programs help children and families access camps, sports, and health services, regardless of financial need. The tournament has now passed the $200,000 mark in total funds raised since it began.

What’s Next

With strong community involvement and continued support, organizers are likely to build on this momentum in the years ahead. The event combines sport, teamwork, and giving back—all while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for a good cause.
